In mobile technology 6G is nothing but a successor to 5G network. Where 5G is available in many countries like USA, UK, India, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, China etc. 6G is not yet available in any country. It is still in the development and standardization phase and some countries like China, South Korea, and the United States often cited as leaders in research and patent filings.
As the launch of 6G is confirmed anytime soon… the question is how people like us will access it? Is there any 6G mobile phone available right now? Let’s have a look at and find out the real status of 6G phones in India below:
When 5G launched… it made the live streaming possible in high quality and that’s the reason many people enjoy Movies, TV Shows, Live Sports on TV & mobile in 1080p, 4K via the streaming apps. The 6G will be even more better as the 6G network will offer 50 to 100 times faster than 5G network!
The 6G network is in testing phase and that’s the reason no brand in the world has launched a commercial 6G phone yet. The mobile phone companies like Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus, Motorola, Infinix, itel or any other brand (Lava, iQoo, Nothing) not yet announced regarding the 6G phone.
A friend of mine, who was recently considering buying a new 5G phone, asked, “If 6G is coming, should I postpone buying it now?” My clear answer to him was, “Rest assured, the commercial rollout of 6G will take at least 4 to 5years.” So you can buy a 5G phone and enjoy the 5G!
Speaking of India, our country is not lagging behind in this regard. As made clear in press release, the Indian government has launched the ‘Bharat 6G Vision,’ which will run from 2023 to 2030. An investment of ₹224 crore has been made in its first phase (2023-2025), involving prestigious institutions like the IITs. The goal is for India to achieve a 10 percent share of global 6G intellectual property. In January 2025, India also launched an open-source 5G-Advanced and 6G platform, which recorded speeds of 600-700 Mbps. This reflects our country’s technological ambition.

It’s also interesting to know what’s happening with 6G around the world. According to Global Times report, China completed the first phase of 6G technology trials in November 2025. Companies like LG are working on prototypes for terahertz data transmission. In September 2025, another report published by South China Morning Post confirms that Peking University and the City University of Hong Kong developed the world’s first 6G chip, capable of delivering speeds of 100 Gbps. However, it is still in the prototype stage. Companies like Qualcomm and MediaTek are aiming to bring pre-commercial 6G modems by 2028.
Now the most important question: when will 6G phones arrive in India?
According to technology experts and industry insiders, the time range for the first 6G devices and network trials is 2028-2030. This means you won’t find a 6G phone in any physical store right now, nor are there any online options. Apart from that those looking for budget 6G phones in India, they have to wait even more as it will be available under Rs 15,000 in 2032-2033!
I suggest that if you’re considering buying a new phone right now, it would be wise to invest in a 5G phone. 5G is yet to fully expand in India, and its full rollout is expected by 2026. It would be a better strategy to fully leverage 5G technology before entering the 6G world.
Looking ahead, 6G will go far beyond just high-speed internet. It will be a powerful combination of integrated sensing, immersive extended reality, and artificial intelligence. Just as 4G opened new dimensions to video streaming and social media, and 5G promoted low latency and IoT, 6G will redefine our digital experiences and it will take AR and VR to new heights.
In conclusion, 6G phones are still a distant dream in India, but preparations are in full swing. India doesn’t want to be a mere spectator in the technological race this time, but wants to be an active player. So, the next time someone asks you about 6G phones, you can confidently say, “Don’t expect anything premature or more than luck. 6G will definitely come, but we’ll have to wait for it.”
