Jio free cloud storage

Reliance Jio has announced to offer 100GB cloud storage for free which other companies like Google and Apple provide for a premium. So, will this new welcome offer create problem for Google and Apple? Let’s find out everything about Jio 100GB Free Cloud Storage offer and how to claim it in below given article!

What is Cloud Storage?

Cloud storage is nothing but backing or saving data online. Instead of backing the data on physical devices like Pen Drive, External SSD, Memory Card…, the current generation prefer to store it online on servers which are connected with each other. This inter connected servers have same copy and upon your request, the nearest source deliver the data to minimize latency and this thing is collectively (storing and accessing data online) called cloud storage.

This storage facility is provided by many big players in market like AWS, Google, Apple, Microsoft and now Reliance Jio entered in to offer the 100GB of cloud storage for free with Microsoft Azure cloud platform, so you can save your important data without opting for subscription.

Importance of Cloud Storage

At present time, cloud storage is quite important to backup the data online which you can retrieve anytime, anywhere in the world. By syncing mobile with a cloud having fast internet connection like 4G or 5G, you can quickly upload your phone data like images, videos, document files, apks and a lot more stuff in few minutes.

This saves a lot of time and if you lost your device while traveling or because of your daily hectic schedule then you can recover all your data with the help of cloud storage in just a few minutes and resume your work without wasting time on other devices.

Jio Cloud Storage

Jio cloud storage is a facility that has been offered to Jio customers so they can save data online on Jio Cloud instead on physical devices. It allows users to store and access their files, photos, videos, and documents online, which they can access with a 4G or 5G internet or using high-speed broadband or wi-fi!

The cloud storage that offered by Jio is free to use. You can create account, submit details like mobile number and then you can use it for free up to 100 GB. Want to use more? You need to buy a monthly or yearly plan which yet not disclosed and will be revealed on Diwali 2024.

Jio vs Google vs Apple Cloud Storage

The close competitors of Jio in the cloud storage segment are Google and Apple.  Google offers Google One where 100GB of cloud storage is sold at a subscription of Rs 130/month and Apple offers 50GB iCloud at Rs 75/month.

Though both Apple and Google offer free cloud storage but it is quite low. Google offers 15GB for free while Apple offers only 5GB cloud storage for free… and if you want more storage then you can opt for premium subscription which will cost around Rs 75 in Apple and Rs 130 in Google per month basis.

Conclusion

100GB is too big and you can save a lot of data in this space for free. But for how many days Jio will offer it? As we know very well Jio gives tempting offers and when people get addicted, company start charging heavy amount and its recent example is in month of July 2024 when Jio increased mobile plans by 25%.

If we look at the history of Jio, sooner or later Jio will definitely introduce paid plans in cloud storage and then it will be a bit disappointing for some users to opt for it as now they will have to pay a subscription fee to access their data which they had previously stored for free under the Jio AI-Cloud Welcome Offer!

Our advise is don’t get addicted with free Jio Cloud storage as in upcoming years (might be 2026 or 2028), Jio cloud storage will cost around Rs 49/month to Rs 99/month for 100GB cloud storage space which is totally free right now but there is no guarantee for the future.
