Jio’s new updated Recharge Plans for Prepaid Mobile users!

Reliance Jio has taken a big decision for all its prepaid users. The company has silently discontinued its old and popular ₹209 and ₹249 plans, which offered 1GB data per day for 28 days. Now the entry-level plan starts from ₹239, which offers 1.5GB 4G data per day for 22 days and ₹299 for 28 days. This change is directly part of Jio’s strategy to make 5G a source of profit, and it has once again sparked a debate among millions of consumers who are budget conscious and keep track of every rupee.

Speaking for myself, I myself am a Jio user and was managing with their ₹ 249 plan for the last several years. 1GB of data per day was enough to run WhatsApp, some YouTube videos, and essential apps. But this new change has forced users like me to either spend ₹50 more, or reduce our usage. I am seeing on social media that many people are angry with this decision and are talking about moving to other networks. The question arises, is Jio ignoring its most loyal customers, who brought it to this position?

But, it is also important to look at the other aspect of this. Jio has not only discontinued the old plans, but has introduced a whole new range in their place which has been created keeping in mind different needs. Actually, the company now wants to move users away from low-end plans and move them towards slightly expensive but more value plans. These have features like OTT subscription and unlimited 5G data, which point to the future.

The most interesting thing is that Jio has kept a plan for every type of user. If you are a talkative user, such as an elderly member of the household, then the ₹123 plan for 60 days is a great offer for them, which offers unlimited calling and 1GB data for the entire 60 days. On the other hand, if you want to step into the world of 5G, then the ₹189 plan is the cheapest way. It offers 2GB data (4G) with a validity of 28 days and most importantly, unlimited 5G data. That is, if you have a 5G phone, you can use as much high-speed data on it as you want, provided your basic 2GB 4G data is not exhausted. This is a smart move that encourages users to get used to 5G.

The long validity plans also include a ₹199 annual plan, which is perfect for minimum data users. At the same time, the ₹399 plan (28 days, 2GB 4G + unlimited 5G per day) remains a popular choice for heavy users. Apart from this, 84-day plans like ₹1,029 and ₹1,049 also have OTT benefits like Amazon Prime Lite or SonyLIV and ZEE5, which greatly increase their value. If you are a Netflix fan, then the ₹1,299 (84-day validity) plan is made for you.

Jio has also given a great limited-time offer – the ‘New Year Welcome Plan’. For ₹2,025 you are getting 200 days validity, 2.5GB data per day (or 500GB in total), Netflix mobile, Amazon Prime Video mobile and coupons worth ₹2,150. This plan really offers tremendous value if your budget can last that long.

The biggest question among all this is the same: is this change justified? In my view, Jio had taken the telecom industry by storm, but now it has become a mature negocio company that wants a return on its investment. It costs billions of rupees to build and maintain a 5G network. In such a situation, it was difficult for it to rely only on cheap plans. This change seems to be a necessary business decision. However, it cannot be denied that this will put financial pressure on a large section. After all, India is a country where an increase of ₹ 50 also matters a lot to most of the people and guys if you think it is time to port number on Airtel, then let me tell you Airtel has also removed Rs 249 plan from the website or Airtel thanks app.  So i think it is best to stick with existing network that you own!

In the end, it depends on the consumer how he takes this change. If you are just looking for a cheaper plan, you will be disappointed. But if you are willing to spend a little more for additional features like better speed, unlimited 5G and OTT benefits, then Jio’s new plans have a lot for you. The best way is to understand your monthly data and calling habits, and then go to the MyJio app and choose the plan that gives you the most value for your needs. There is competition in the market, and customers still have options.
