As Amazon prime and Netflix are not going to buy new movies, the merger of Jiocinema with Hotstar and Sonliv with Zee will make them 2 big players in OTT market of India.
Soon, Jiocinema & Hotstar and Sonyliv & Zee become the OTT king in India and this may pose a threat to Netflix and Amazon Prime’s dominant positions. This way users have to buy only 2 subscriptions instead of 4.
If the rumours are right, then Indian users can see the merger of Jiocinema with Hotstar in late 2024. And when this will happen, all Disney+ content like anime shows, Marvel’s movies, and Disney cartoon TV shows and movies will be available to watch on Jiocinema.
Apart from that, if you like sports then you can also watch IPL, T20 cricket world cup, ODI World Cup, Football club matches, FIFA world cup 2026 on this single platform with 1 subscription. With this, Jio is all set to capture the 40% market share with Indian, and Hollywood content with newly launched movies.
The second merger will happen between Zee and Sonyliv. This way a number of Bollywood movies and Punjabi movies will be available to watch and SonyLIV will give boost to many other popular Indian tv shows like comedy shows, Sony Liv original TV series and newly launched Ramayn tv series named Srimad Ramayan.

Means only these 2 OTT platforms will remain in race.
