The vibration feature in Samsung Galaxy smartphones of S series, A series, Z series, M Series and F Series is quite useful, but sometimes it also becomes a cause of trouble. Suppose you are in a meeting or going to sleep at night, and the repeated vibration of the phone is disturbing you. In such a situation, it becomes necessary to turn off vibration. If you too want to minimize the intensity of vibration from your Galaxy phone, then here are 8 practical methods, which I have tried myself on Galazy S20, S21, S23, A50 and they work perfectly.
1. Turn off notification vibration
The most vibration of the phone is caused by notifications. To turn it off – go to Settings > tap on the ‘Sounds and vibration’ option > and turn off ‘Notification vibration’. I found that this stops vibration on notifications of WhatsApp, email, and other apps, but vibration of calls and messages has to be managed separately.
2. Remove keypad tone vibration
Have you ever noticed that when you dial a phone number, the phone vibrates on every key press? To turn it off, go to the ‘Sounds and Vibration’ section and disable ‘Dialer Keypad Vibration’. According to my experience, this feature is unnecessary for most users and turning it off also saves battery.
3. Disable Touch Feedback Vibration
Galaxy phones have a slight vibration when you touch the screen, which is called touch feedback. If you find it irritating, go to ‘General Management’ > ‘Samsung Keyboard Setting’ > ‘Swipe, Touch, and Feedback’ > Tap on ‘Touch Feedback’ > Turn it Off. I noticed that this makes the phone’s usage experience smoother, especially when you are using the phone at night.
4. Turn off Call Vibration
Even after turning off notification vibrations on Samsung Galaxy phones, call and SMS vibrations still work separately. This is because call and message settings are saved in the phone’s default Contacts/Phone app, not in the general notification settings. If you want the phone to not vibrate when you receive a call or message, you need to turn them off separately. Here are the practical ways to turn off call vibrations on Samsung Galaxy smartphones:
- Step 1: Open the Phone app (dialer) or Message app and tap the three dots (⋮) menu.
- Step 2: Go to “Settings” or “Call settings”.
- Step 3: Select “Call alerts and vibration” or a similar option.
- Step 4: Turn off “Call vibration”.
As per my knowledge, this option can also be found in the “Sounds and vibration” section in some Galaxy models based on their UI. If you can’t find it there, check the settings of the dialer app.
5. Reduce system heavy vibration
Some Galaxy models have strong vibration on system events (such as charging starts or locking the phone). To reduce this, you will find the ‘System vibration intensity’ option in ‘Sounds and Vibration’, from where you can adjust it. I noticed that this option is more customizable in the new Galaxy S series phones.
6. Turn off vibration of Google Keyboard
If you use Google Keyboard (Gboard) or Samsung Keyboard, then the vibration of the keyboard can also be turned off. Go to ‘Preferences’ in Gboard and turn off ‘Key press vibration’. In Samsung Keyboard, this option will be found inside ‘Keyboard Settings’. I suggest that if you type fast, then turning off vibration improves the experience.
7. Control vibration in gaming mode
Galaxy phones have a gaming mode option also known as Gaming Hub, where you can manage vibration during games. So to control the vibration – open the gaming hub > tap on three dots (⋮) menu > notifications > and disable the sound & vibration. I have tested this on Samsung Galaxy S25 in games like PUBG, Free Fire Max, and Call of Duty, and turning off vibration improved battery life. Here’s the step-by-step video:
8. Turn off vibration of third-party apps
Some apps, like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram have vibration settings in their own. To turn them off, go to the app settings and turn off ‘Notification Vibration’. I found that many users are not aware of this, while it causes the most vibration. So check each app settings and keep the vibration off!
Conclusion
There are many ways to control vibration in Samsung Galaxy phones, but it is important that you choose the right settings according to your needs and based on the Android version. My personal experience says that if you are not getting any benefit from vibration, then it is better to turn them off. This will not only improve your phone usage experience, but the battery will also last longer. So the next time your phone starts vibrating unnecessarily, try these methods and do share them with others on social media platforms.
