How to use Wondershare Filmora 9 to add text?
Let us see the easiest way to add titles and other texts in Filmora9 step by step. It is easy and simple!
Step 1: Import your video files
First of all, create a new project in Wondershare Filmora9. Do make sure that the resolution and frame rate of your project is similar to your video. You might also change the project settings if you need some other resolution for the final output.
Next, from Media tab click on the Import button and continue with the Import media file option. Select your footage from the file manager window. Just to make the process easy you can use Ctrl + I shortcut or drag and drop your footage straight into the Media pool. Filmora9 also allows you to import video footage from iPhone or Android phone directly to the media library.
Step 2: Add Videos to Timeline and Locate the Video Frame
Drag your footage from media pool to the timeline. Edit your video to your liking. Then go to the exact frame where you want to add the text by zooming into the timeline. Use keyboard shortcut Ctrl + + (plus) to zoom and Ctrl + – (minus) to zoom out. Dragging the time stamp over the timeline will also do the job.
You can do some basic editing such as cutting and trimming to remove out some unwanted parts from the original clip.
Step 3: Add Title into the Timeline
Next head on to the Title tab. There are 137 variations of text presets to choose from, divided into categories like openers, lower 3rd, end credits etc. Double click to play the title and select the one which suits your need. Drag it to the timeline, into the second video track, top of your footage. Drag the title and place it to the exact place needed.
Step 4: Change the Duration of the Text
Automatically the text layer will be 5 seconds long. If you want to change it just drag from the left or right edge of the text layer. Alternatively, you can right click on the text layer and select the Duration option and manually enter the time length of the text.
Step 5: Edit and Customize Your Text
Double click on the title layer and it will open the text window, where you can change the text written, the font and size of it. The Preset tab will give you many options to stylize your text. Changing the text color and blending mode is also available in the Text tab.
Step 6: Apply Effects to Text
If you are still not happy the way the text is appearing you can press the Advance button to open a new text editing window. Here you can manually control every aspect of the text and add blur or borders. Alignment option is also present to place the text with precise control.
In this window, you will find a copy of the timeline you are working on. You can add more text layers right here and play with all those texts at once.
Step 7: Apply animation to Text
After adding effects you can also change the way the footage comes in over your video. To do that go the Animation tab, right beside Preset option. There are many animations presets to choose from like Type Writer or Cinema Style.
If you need the same configuration later into the project or for a separate project, you can save the preset you just made. This option will surely save a lot of time. Then press OK to get out of text editing mode.
Step 8: Export the new video
After all of that double check your final video pressing the play button. If you are happy with the result, go ahead and press the Export button. In this window, you can choose the format, frame rate, final resolution and audio parameters of your final output. Choose the folder you want to put the rendered video and press Export.
It will take some time depending on the resolution and length of your footage to render and that is all you need to do.
